The bachelor of science in electrical and electronics engineering is a five-year degree programme that aims at equipping students with the principles and practice of electrical and electronic engineering which when combined with computer engineering or business management, provides the key to our future in the information age. The electrical and electronic subjects also include information technology, communications, medical electronics, computers, aerospace, robotics, automation and indeed all applications or electricity for it is becoming increasingly difficult to find anything that does not in some way rely upon the technology being developed by electron engineers.
The bachelor of science degree in electrical and electronic engineering emphasizes the applications of devices and systems, and supporting practical work including individual project work. Students can choose either to study abroad range of subjects in the final year or to specialize in electrical power, industrial automation, computing, communications or microelectronics.

Career Opportunities
Electrical and electronic engineers are in high demand with employers. Within electrical engineering the main employment areas include electrical supply and distribution, power systems, transport and electrical machinery. Opportunities within electronics exist in electronic circuit design, instrumentation and control for safety on industrial plants, e.g. Manufacturing, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, telecommunications, mobile technology, automotive and aviation electronics and medical systems. Opportunities also exist for graduates in related fields, eg. Information technology. Popular areas outside of engineering include commercial, industrial and public sector management.
